Table tents

Show guests how to tap

Everyone knows tap to pay, but fewer people have tapped a tag. A tent on the table holds the NFC sticker and spells out the three things first-timers miss: unlock the phone, hold the top of it to the circle, then tap the pop-up.

Replaces your bar's name. A wide logo on a transparent background looks best.

One tent per code, printed on it for guests without NFC. Paste them, one per line, or load the kit.csv the tag kit came with. Only the codes are used, never the links. Leave it empty for a tent without a code.

Colours

Dark backgrounds use a lot of ink. On a home printer, a light one prints faster and cleaner.

Letter paper, no margins, colours on. Use card stock (65–110 lb) so it stands up.

Setting up

From printer to table

1. Print and fold

Each tent is one page. Fold it in half across the middle, printed side out, and stand it up like a little roof. The top half is printed upside down so both sides read the right way up.

2. Stick the tag inside

Hold the tent up to a light to find a circle, and stick the NFC sticker on the inside, right behind it. Kit tags go in the tent with the same code, or a guest typing the code orders from a different table.

3. Put each tag on its table

Tap the tent in the Beer Appear app (or type its code) under Setup ▸ Spots & tags and pick the table it's on.

4. Try it like a guest

Lock your phone, then follow the three steps on the tent. If it doesn't open, move the phone slowly around the circle: the sticker may be a little off centre.
